Employed!

After coming back to Canada I found out that I had a few phone calls to reply to...it seems that there had been a principal calling steadily for me for a few days. After getting in contact with him via email we set up a phone interview. After the interview I received an email saying he was going to offer me the position (which he has just lately told me he never does).

After a week and a half of considering my options and praying about where the Lord would want me, I agreed to work for Koinonia Christian School in Red Deer, Alberta. I am their new social studies teacher. Which means I will be responsible for all grades in high school (grade 7 to 12). Since I've been teaching the American curriculum up until now this should be a great change...I know the Lord will help me through! I will also be teaching drama, and Bible for sure. There are a couple courses still up in the air for electives...I may be teaching grade 8 math and geography, or maybe even psychology. I will find out when I leave for Alberta half way through August. Amazingly enough I still have to leave at about the same time that I left for Honduras!

The school only has 150 students from kindergarten to grade 12. It has a mentoring program where teachers build up older students and older students build up younger students. It has chapel sessions each week, devotions in class, a spiritual emphasis week and retreat. It also has camping trips scheduled in, an outdoor extreme sports alternative program, a missionary journey at the end of the year to Mexico, and a large drama production that I will probably be helping put together.

The Lord has been great about answering any questions or concerns I had when I last spoke to the principal by phone. I'm excited about this opportunity and hopeful to be used by the Lord in whatever way He wants. I look forward to seeing His wonders!

This is a tribute to Kyle's relatives!

Thank you so much for your continued support of my blog over the past two years. I've enjoyed knowing you were out there reading all of the things that have been going on for myself and all the rest of our group (namely Kyle). But now my time is past and I will not be able to service you with news about Kyle...seeing as we'll be in completely different countries and not have the same basic life anymore. You are definitely welcome to keep reading my blog, I'd appreciate it greatly, but I won't be able to give you news of Kyle's mishaps! I will warn you however that the position of blogger for the Pinares group is still MIA...and may not appear next year. In fact, the harsh rumor that Kyle may have to write his OWN blog has even surfaced...I know, that is almost too terrible to fathom - but he's been working on every angle to stop it from happening. :)
