Birthdays and Banquets
It's great when things happen that are exciting in your life! Especially when you can say that today wasn't a regular day, it had something great attached to it that made it special...I like days like that. Last week I had a couple of those in a row!
On Friday a group of us went to celebrate Chris's birthday at the bowling alley.
On the way there though, Kara's car had a flat. Luckily Heidi saw Kara's group stranded on the side of the road and we helped them out...we meaning Kyle and Joseph worked on the tire while Heidi, Trina and I talked to everybody else! What teamwork! ;) Our car adventures continued as we almost ran over a cop who told us to have respect and think! (that's
about all we got out of the conversation)...he saw the humour of our blank stares and let us go with a laugh. Chris had an excellent turn out for her birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHRIS! We played pool at the bowling alley...Trina and I ROCK! That's right...we are pool-sharks that don't get glory because we never win...but we definitely can make the right shots! We had so much fun with the pool tables we decided we'd save bowling for another night! Saturday followed up Friday rather nicely for entertainment. We had a great Ultimate Frisbee game! Paul Scherbel from the Embassy came out to enjoy the day with us! We know him from playing volleyball at the
American School every Thursday night (good times!). After beating the other team, we decided to play some volleyball just to be consistent! :) So we had a dust-game outside. Needless to say we were sweaty...and dirty by the end. Perfect condition for the dressiest event of the year! Yes, we had to get ready for the Junior/Senior Banquet, hosted at the Maya Hotel.
It was crazy long! We were beginning to think that the Junior's who put it together had forgotten about the 'banquet' part...we didn't eat until after 9pm! So, when we got around to taking pictures afterwards...all of us were very tired (forgive us if we look a bit wiped in the pictures). The picture to the
left is Betsy, Heidi, myself and Melodee. The picture to the right is Betsy, myself, Oscar, Heidi and Melodee. To top the evening off, the senior girls had car trouble...and Kyle came to the rescue again, giving it a Zambian push start (jumper cables had failed). For once I agree with anonymous...
That 'hot' word is getting tossed out there a lot...thanks, we were really tired, so I'm glad we pulled off a nice look! Rach, I got my dress from this great lady named Marcela! She and I are the same size so therefore, we have a lot of fun!
